Teen Patti
Teen Patti, three cards a side: a trail beats a pure sequence, A-2-3 is the highest run, and the better hand takes the pot.
How to play
Teen Patti is played against the dealer from a single deck. Place one bet and three cards are dealt to each side, face up. The cards come from the same deck, so neither side is favoured: the better hand wins the pot, and the pot is yours less the table's cut.
Teen Patti ranks three cards its own way. The categories run Trail, Pure Sequence, Sequence, Color, Pair, High Card, and two of them behave unlike poker: A-2-3 is the highest sequence of all — and it may be a pure one — while 2-3-5, called prime, is a plain high card that nevertheless beats every other high card.
- Trail — three of a kind, such as 7-7-7
- Pure Sequence — three running cards in one suit, such as 5-6-7 of hearts
- Sequence — three running cards in mixed suits
- Color — three cards of one suit that do not run
- Pair — two cards of one rank plus a kicker
- High Card — nothing above; A-K-Q is the best of them
- A-2-3 is the highest sequence and outranks A-K-Q; 2-3-5 (prime) is the highest high card
- A-K-Q beats A-K-J: within a category the cards are compared from the top down
- Equal hands are not a tie for the player — the pot stays with the house
